Girls in Aviation Day Inspires the Next Generation of Female Aviation Leaders

Aviation Metals, a prominent player in the aerospace industry, is proud to support Girls in Aviation Day, an annual event dedicated to inspiring young girls to pursue careers in aviation.

The event will be hosted by the Women in Aviation International’s First in Flight North Carolina Chapter and will take place on November 16, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, located at 4672 First Flight Dr, Charlotte, NC 28208.

About Girls in Aviation Day

Girls in Aviation Day aims to address the gender gap within the aviation sector by introducing girls to diverse opportunities in the industry. Despite recent advancements, women currently make up only 6% of pilots and about 30% of the overall aviation workforce. This event offers girls of all ages hands-on experiences, engaging discussions, and the chance to meet inspiring female professionals who have made significant impacts in aviation.

What to Expect

With a focus on adventure and discovery, this event provides a unique and immersive experience that ignites the imagination and encourages girls to dream big.

Kathy Mackinson, CFO of Aviation Metals, will participate as a panelist along with other inspirational leaders in Aviation, sharing insights from her extensive career in the aviation sector and offering valuable guidance for young girls interested in pursuing roles within the industry.

“Girls in Aviation Day provides a unique platform to empower the next generation of female leaders in aviation,” said Kathy Mackinson. “I am excited to share my journey and encourage young girls to dream big and see aviation as an accessible, exciting career path.”
