High Copper Alloy. Beryllium Coppers are available in ductile, heat treatable tempers and in mill hardened tempers. Alloys are used in a wide range of applications requiring very high strength and stiffness with good conductivity. C17300 can develop more than 200 ksi (1380 MPa) tensile strength.

Applications: Typical uses include electrical/electronic connectors, current-carrying springs, precision screw machined parts, welding electrodes, bearings, plastic molds and corrosion resistant components.

Machinability: The machinability rating of this alloy is 50. (Where Alloy 360 FC Brass is 100).

Welding: Soldering is rated as “good”, brazing is rated as “good”, oxyacetylene welding is “not recommended”, gas shielded arc welding is rated as “good”, coated metal arc welding is rated as “good”, spot welding is rated as ” good”, seam welding is rated as ” fair”, and butt welding is rated as “fair”.

Forging: The hot forgeability rating of this alloy is “not recommended”. (Forging brass=100). The recommended hot working temperature for this alloy is between 1200-1500 F.

Hot Working: This alloy’s capacity for being hot formed is rated as “good”.

Cold Working: The capacity for cold working this alloy is rated as “excellent”.

Annealing: The annealing temperature for this alloy is between 1425-1475 F.
